Course-based games and reward systems were also an integral part of this 10 week course. Instead of learning through a textbook, students engaged in weekly quests where they would learn information through videos, article, and digital presentations, and apply that new knowledge to a written reflection or short assignment. Receiving rewards in the form of badges at the end of each quest reinforced our learning and motivated us to continue working through the course. From this experience of engaging in gamified coursework, I now see how implementing it into the classroom can further engage and motivate students. Below you will find some of my badges that I have collected throughout this course.
