Good Morning Readers,
Being able to work with technology is becoming a requirement in the 21st century. This video below provides a brief overview of my thought on technology in the classroom and how it should be used. Students need to learn through technology and daily interactions with these tools and resources. Providing these tech-enhanced learning opportunities in the classroom is so important, especially for those who may not have the opportunity to do so at home.
Sincerely,
Miss Badger

Sight Word Practice
Hi Parents,
Practicing sight words is very important but often can be boring. Sight words are high frequency words in the English language which students should be able to know automatically. The also can be words that are difficult to sound out and therefore need to be recognizable. Sight Word Bingo is a great interactive game that students from Kindergarten to Grade 3 can use to practice their sight words.
I hope you enjoy it,
Miss Badger

Math Blast Off!
Hey Grade Ones!
Math Blast Off is a great game you can play at home to practice your addition and subtraction. Want to know what's even better? The more questions you get right, the further your go through space! FunBrain also has a ton of other math and reading games that you can explore as well.
Note for Parents:
This game is helping your students practice their whole number addition and subtraction which is a part of the Grade One Number Sense and Numeration section of the curriculum.
Have fun my astronauts,
Miss Badger

Everyday Teacher Resources
With so many online tools these days, it may be hard to narrow down which ones are the most useful. Here's my take on the most useful online tools and resources for teachers.
Google Drive can be a great way to keep all of your lessons, documents, marking tools and more in one place. Through Google Drive you can create word documents, spreadsheets, and presentations and store them in your online google account. This tool allows for you to access all of your documents from any computer, anywhere.
Pinterest contains a wealth of resources for teachers. You can find new class activities or lessons on any subject within one search of the website.
Twitter is a great way to stay up-to-date on the latest educational trends, topics, and debates.

Presentation Resource
Students, are you tired of PowerPoint and looking to spice up your presentations? Powtoon is a great online tool that helps you create engaging presentations. Check it out!
Welcome!
Welcome Students, Teachers, Parents, and Friends!
Thank you for taking the time to view my blog. Throughout this blog you will find a variety of educational resources and information, as well as the trials and tribulations of a beginning teacher. This blog began as a class project in the Teacher Education program at Brock University and has grown into a journal of my experiences as a beginning teacher and resources and lesson ideas that I have found along the way. Thanks for joining me on this crazy journey!
Sincerely,
Miss Badger
